My Take

Taylor Russell got me with her stillness. In Lost in Space and especially Waves, she conveys entire interior storms with little more than her eyes, and that kind of composure is unusual in an actor so young. She doesn't chase the showy, weep-loudly moments; she works in the held breaths and quiet pauses, and the audience leans in. The Vancouver native already balances acting with directing and modeling, but it's her screen work that excites me most. With so much room to grow, I hope she keeps choosing roles on her own terms rather than disappearing into blockbuster machinery. I'm quietly rooting for her.
