My Take
TJ Faiane is exactly the kind of midfield back I love watching: the ones who break a line on attack and then make the bone-jarring tackle on defence. Coming out of Auckland and Saint Kentigern College, then playing for Auckland and the Blues in Super Rugby, he carries the pedigree of a country that produces ridiculous quantities of athletic, skilful backs. New Zealand rugby sets a brutal standard, so simply earning regular minutes there is an achievement. There is a Pacific dynamism to his style that I find genuinely thrilling, and I would happily watch him carve up a defensive line any weekend.
