Torsten Frings

Frings is the kind of midfielder I have always admired more than the flashy goal-scorers: a spine-of-the-team grinder with a cannon of a shot. What strikes me is the breadth of his journey, from Aachen and Bremen to Dortmund and Bayern, before closing out an unlikely chapter in Toronto. That willingness to keep playing far from home tells me he loved the game itself, not just the spotlight. His move into coaching feels entirely natural for someone so tactically engaged. To me he represents the unglamorous, durable craftsmanship that quietly wins matches and earns lasting respect.
