Torsten van Jaarsveld embodies the unglamorous heart of rugby. As a hooker and flanker who made his way from Windhoek, Namibia, all the way to Pro D2 side Stade Montois in France, he represents the kind of journey that takes enormous resilience and very little spotlight. Front-row forwards do the dirty, thankless labour that wins matches, and I have a deep respect for players who thrive there. The leap from Namibian rugby to the European leagues is no small feat.
