My Take

Zaha is one of the most thrilling one-on-one players of his generation, a low-slung battering ram who could leave three defenders grasping at air. Born in Abidjan and raised in London, a Crystal Palace academy product who clawed his way up, he carried both that club and the Ivory Coast with real fire. I never cared that his trophy cabinet stayed modest. What I admire is the sheer grit of a winger who got kicked black and blue every match and simply got back up. His journeyman path to America only adds to the legend. A proper warrior.

A product of Crystal Palace's youth academy, Zaha made his senior debut for the then Championship, now Premier League, side in 2010.
