My Take

Wu Chun is a genuine pan-Asian heartthrob phenomenon, a founding member of the Taiwanese Mandopop quartet Fahrenheit who became a sensation across the region as singer, actor and model. What makes him a bit unusual to me is the backstory: Bruneian, RMIT-educated, an entrepreneur with a family business, not the usual struggling-artist arc. He left Fahrenheit in 2011, and I find it telling that he didn't seem to need fame the way some do. There's a poised, easygoing balance to how he's managed his career and life. I watch him with a kind of amused respect; he's clearly played a long game well.
