My Take

For me, Zack Ward will always be that kid with the yellow eyes and coonskin cap in A Christmas Story. Scut Farkus is such an indelible bully that it'd be easy to assume the role boxed him in, but I find his actual run far more interesting. Bouncing through 80s and 90s television films before landing the steady Dave Scoville gig on Titus shows the kind of grind I respect: he never became a household name, yet he kept working, and even moved into screenwriting and voice work. That blend of recognizable face and quiet persistence is exactly the sort of career I'm drawn to.

Overview

Zacharias Ward is a Canadian actor. He made his film debut with a supporting role as Scut Farkus in the comedy film A Christmas Story (1983). Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Ward appeared in multiple television films, and had supporting roles in the films Ed (1996) and Wild America (1997). Ward experienced a career resurgence with his main role as Dave Scoville on the Fox sitcom Titus (2000–2002).
