My Take

For me, Adam Pascal is forever Roger from Rent, and that is the highest praise I can give. When this Bronx-born performer hurled rock energy onto a Broadway stage, he helped rewrite what musical theater could sound like. He originated the role on Broadway and the West End, returned for the 2005 film, and kept circling back to it long after most actors would have moved on. His 1996 Theatre World Award feels almost like an understatement. He doesn't sing roles so much as turn them into songs, and I have a soft spot for that kind of rock-and-roll heart on stage.
