My Take

Aditya Roy Kapur is the rare Bollywood leading man who clearly earned his place. Starting as a VJ before his acting debut in London Dreams, then breaking through with Aashiqui 2, his is a climb rather than an anointing, and I respect that. Pair a St. Xavier's education with his obvious matinee-idol looks and you get someone with both substance and screen presence. Hindi cinema still sits at the edge of many Western viewers' awareness, but performers like him are exactly why that should change. I think audiences crossing over to Indian films would find a genuinely compelling talent here.
