Aki Shirasaka

Honestly, the combination of growing up in Taketa — that quiet castle-town tucked into the mountains of Oita — and then going all the way to Waseda is exactly the kind of backstory that makes someone interesting to me. That's not a small jump. And then to build a career in business and eventually step into politics on top of it? There's a certain unshowy toughness to that trajectory that I find genuinely compelling. I get that energy from her public presence — not someone who chases the spotlight, but someone who shows up prepared and lets the work make the argument. That kind of person tends to last.
