My Take

I love that the second Ken Ogata walked into a scene, the whole frame tightened up like everyone just remembered to behave. He broke out young playing Toyotomi Hideyoshi and then spent decades refusing to coast, slipping between the gentle dad and the quietly terrifying man whose intentions you genuinely could not read. What gets me is how little he needed to do it: barely a line, sometimes barely a flinch, and somehow his eyes had already told you everything while you sat there pinned to your seat. He stacked up awards and never once seemed to wear them, just kept showing up like a craftsman clocking in. That stillness, that lived-in weight, it's a vanishing kind of acting. Losing him in 2008 stung, and honestly it still does.
