Akihiko Kondo

Akihiko Kondo is far more than the man who 'married Hatsune Miku.' What strikes me is the quiet honesty behind his choice. After being rejected and later bullied into depression, he found comfort and meaning in a love the world refused to recognize, and then he stood up and made it public. I'm not interested in debating whether fictosexual marriage is 'valid'; I'm interested in the courage it takes to define happiness on your own terms against constant ridicule. Kondo forces a real question about what love and companionship actually mean, and that makes him a genuinely important cultural figure.
