My Take

Alcindo is one of those players who burned brighter in a foreign league than almost anywhere else, and Japan in the 1990s was lucky to catch him at his peak. The Brazilian striker landed at Kashima Antlers and immediately looked like he'd been beamed in from a different dimension — quick, clinical, and genuinely fun to watch in a J.League that was still finding its identity. His goal-scoring record for Kashima spoke for itself, and he became something of a cult figure among Japanese fans who were just falling in love with top-level club football. For a lot of people of that era, Alcindo was their introduction to what a world-class Brazilian forward could look like up close, and that's a legacy worth remembering.
