My Take
The second May'n opens her mouth the sound is enormous. To me she's not a voice actress who happens to sing, she's a flat-out powerhouse vocalist who got famous lending that voice to Macross Frontier. "Lion" and "Chase the World" still hit like a punch to the chest, all forward momentum and zero hesitation. She started young, out of Nagoya, and you can hear the years stacking confidence onto an already gutsy voice. She does the singer-actor-seiyuu trifecta, sure, but I'll always picture her on a stage giving everything, full-body, no hedging. There's something contagious about that straight-ahead belt, it leaves me weirdly energized. Genuinely one of the good ones.
