My Take
For me, Alex Ross sits in a category of his own among comic artists. Most illustrators draw superheroes; Ross paints them as if they belong in a Renaissance altarpiece, and that decision changed how a whole generation looked at the genre. Marvels and Kingdom Come weren't just well-drawn books, they treated childhood icons with the gravity of myth, and the stack of Eisner Awards only confirms what the eye already tells you.
