Alexandra Burke

Alexandra Burke's 2008 X Factor win and the record-breaking sales of her "Hallelujah" single, over 100,000 copies in a single day, are staggering numbers for any debut. But what earns my respect is what came after. Talent-show winners are too easily written off as one-hit novelties, yet Burke kept building, moving between music and acting and refusing to fade. That gospel-trained voice was always the real engine. The hardest test for anyone who tastes glory young is the long, unglamorous work of staying relevant, and she has kept singing through it. That endurance is what I admire.
