My Take
There's something I love about a young lefty coming out of Okinawa, and Hiroya Miyagi came up through Konan High, a real powerhouse for baseball down there, before winning the Pacific League Rookie of the Year award in 2021. What gets me is that he isn't some towering, intimidating frame, yet he never seems to shrink in a big spot. I'm a sucker for a pitcher who throws with that quiet, almost smirking confidence, like he's daring the hitter to try him. He pitched for Japan in the 2023 and 2026 World Baseball Classics, and after elbow surgery in 2026 he's still got loads of road ahead, and honestly that's the fun part for me. I just want to sit back and watch how far this Okinawan southpaw decides to take it.
