My Take
Ali Wong rewired what a stand-up special could be when she walked out heavily pregnant in Baby Cobra and proceeded to be the rawest, funniest person in the room. I love how she refuses to sand down her edges. Her comedy is filthy, specific, and weirdly tender about marriage and motherhood at the same time. Then she pivoted to Beef and proved she is a serious dramatic actress, sweeping the awards season. Watching her go from voicing Tuca to anchoring a prestige Netflix drama, I think she is one of the most fearless multi-hyphenates working right now, and she earned every bit of it.
