My Take
Ally Maki strikes me as more than a working actor, though her range from Jess Kato in Wrecked to voicing Giggle McDimples in Toy Story 4 already shows versatility. What earns my real admiration is her founding of the Asian American Girl Club, a lifestyle and apparel brand, in 2018. Plenty of performers stay quiet and collect roles; she chose to build community and visibility for people who rarely saw themselves on screen. That her career began in music tells me she's restless and creative by nature. I find that combination, talent plus a deliberate sense of purpose, far more interesting than star power alone.
