Amelle Berrabah

What strikes me about Amelle Berrabah is the sheer difficulty of the assignment she accepted. Stepping into the Sugababes after a founding member departs is a thankless tightrope walk, with fans primed to resent any newcomer. Yet she did it, contributing not just vocals but songwriting to a group whose sound was already iconic. I tend to admire performers who succeed under that kind of pressure rather than building from a blank slate. She also scored a UK number one outside the group with "Never Leave You" in 2009, but the role she played in keeping a beloved act alive earns my quiet respect more than any solo headline ever could.
