Amie Donald

I'll be honest — when I first heard that the uncanny, hyper-precise robot movements in M3GAN were performed by a real twelve-year-old girl from New Zealand, I had to look it up twice. Amie Donald brought that doll to life in a way that CGI alone never could have: every tilt of the head, every too-smooth stride felt genuinely wrong in the best possible way, because it came from a trained dancer who knew exactly how to weaponize her own body against the audience's expectations. That background in dance is the whole secret — it's not acting, it's physical storytelling at a level most adult performers never reach. She's barely a teenager and she's already responsible for one of the most visually memorable characters in recent horror. I'm genuinely curious where she goes from here, because that kind of physical intelligence paired with that kind of screen presence doesn't come along very often.
