Hiroyuki Konishi

Here's a guy who's clearly book-smart, Tokushima-raised and a University of Tokyo grad, yet somehow once he got into politics he became the kind of person who, the second something bugs him, latches on and refuses to let go no matter who's telling him to drop it. Whether it's the floor of the Diet or his account on X, he just blurts out exactly what he's thinking, which means he's forever kicking up little storms wherever he goes. I get the sense reading the room and staying quiet just isn't his thing, that deep down he genuinely figures, "What's wrong with saying what I believe is right?" Sharp but clumsy with people, plenty of enemies, but bullheadedly straight down whatever road he trusts. For better or worse, hard to ignore.
