My Take

I respect Andrew Blake because he refused to leave his fashion-photographer's eye at the door, even working in adult film. Born in Los Angeles, he chased light, shadow, silk and silhouette with a craftsman's obsession, earning an AVN Hall of Fame induction in 1996 and a Worldfest-Houston medal for Night Trips. I have no patience for judging artists by genre alone; what I find compelling is the discipline to insist on visual elegance in a space where that's rarely the priority. Whatever you think of the work, the devotion to beauty was real, and I credit him for it.
