My Take

Shahini holds a place I genuinely admire as a pioneer. Winning Festivali i Këngës and then becoming Albania's first-ever Eurovision representative in 2004 was far heavier than any single result, because being first carries the weight of an entire country's debut on a global stage. I am less interested in where she placed than in the courage of walking a path no Albanian artist had walked before. Carrying her nation's voice into that arena took real nerve. For me, she is the figure who opened the door, and every Albanian singer who followed owes something to that opening night.
