My Take
Anson Williams fascinates me because he refused to coast on a single iconic role. Forever lovable as Potsie on Happy Days, a part that earned him a Golden Globe nomination, he then moved behind the camera to direct television. Actors who make that leap usually understand storytelling in their bones, knowing exactly what lands and why. The warmth audiences felt in his earnest, well-meaning characters seems to mirror the man himself. Born in 1949 and still a working craftsman of the screen, he represents the kind of durable, generous professional I admire. Longevity like his is no accident.
