Aoi Yūki

I'm genuinely floored that all that sound comes out of someone who's 145cm tall. Aoi Yūki has one of the most absurdly elastic ranges in the business, swinging from squeaky little kids to brooding boys to outright eldritch creepy-cute monsters without ever sounding like she's reaching. She came up as a child actor and never really left the front line, snagging a Best Actress nod at the Seiyu Awards while she was barely in her twenties, then went and studied at Waseda on top of it, which tracks because she's startlingly articulate in interviews. What I love is the contrast: she'll gut you with a heartbreaking performance, then turn around and be the sharpest, most quietly mischievous person in the room. A Chiba-born powerhouse I keep quietly rooting for.
