My Take
Ari Lehman holds a singular place in my imagination as the very first actor to play Jason Voorhees, the child who emerged from the lake in the original Friday the 13th. There is something wonderful about a brief childhood role becoming an indelible piece of horror history. What I appreciate most is what he did next, fronting the punk-metal band First Jason and embracing his cult legacy with genuine showmanship rather than fleeing from it. Born in 1965 New York, he reinvented himself as a composer and performer who turns infamy into art. I find that kind of self-aware, joyful reinvention genuinely admirable.
