My Take

Ayo Edebiri is, to me, one of the most exciting talents working right now. She came up through comedy and writing rooms, then detonated as Sydney in The Bear, sweeping a Golden Globe, an Emmy, and a Critics' Choice award in 2023 alone. What impresses me is the range: she can land a joke and break your heart in the same scene, and she directs too. The Boston upbringing, the NYU education, the Nigerian heritage behind her birth name Funmilayo, all of it feels like real foundation rather than hype. I think she's only at the beginning, and I'm happy to be watching.
