Beatrix von Storch

What strikes me about Beatrix von Storch is the sheer pedigree behind the politics: born into the House of Oldenburg in Lübeck, trained as a lawyer at Heidelberg, and seasoned in both the European and German parliaments. I won't pretend to endorse or condemn her positions here, but I respect the conviction of someone who plants a flag and refuses to move it amid the noise of European politics. Figures who provoke strong reactions are often the ones worth listening to carefully. I'd want to understand exactly what she believes she's defending, and why it matters so deeply to her.
