Belly

Belly fascinates me because his story carries real weight. Born Ahmad Balshe in Jenin and raised in Ottawa, he is an artist whose identity was shaped by displacement, and he reclaimed it through music. What I respect most is that he is not just a face on the mic but a working songwriter and producer behind the scenes too. There is something defiant in someone who, stripped of a homeland, builds a voice out of words and beats instead. I genuinely root for artists like him, the ones who turn dislocation into craft rather than excuse.
