Beth Orton

What I admire most about Beth Orton is how early she sensed where music was heading. Long before genre-blending became fashionable, she fused folk's intimacy with electronica's texture and made it feel completely natural. To me she is less a trend-chaser than a quiet craftsman who trusted her own ear. The mid-90s collaborations could have been a gimmick, but instead they revealed an artist with a genuine voice. Trailer Park still sounds warm and searching decades on. I keep coming back to her because her work rewards patience rather than demanding attention, and that kind of integrity is rare.
