My Take
Billy Miller's death in 2023, just two days before his 44th birthday, still feels like a loss the industry underrated. Coming out of Tulsa and the University of Texas, he became one of daytime television's finest, winning awards as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless and pulling off the rare feat of playing two distinct roles on General Hospital. Soap acting is endlessly demanding work that rarely earns critical respect, yet he brought real nuance to it. I think of him as a craftsman who gave millions a daily companion, and his early passing genuinely saddens me.
