My Take
Boris Johnson is one of the most polarizing figures I cover, and I think that is partly by design. An Oxford-educated journalist, editor and essayist before he was ever a politician, he rose from London mayor to Foreign Secretary to Prime Minister on the strength of a carefully cultivated shambling charm and a real gift for words. He became the face of Brexit and, fittingly for a man who courts spectacle, even collected an Ig Nobel Prize along the way. My honest verdict on his political record is that it splits sharply down the middle. But as a writer, his ability to turn a phrase is something I will readily concede.
