Brian Hill

Brian Hill belongs to a category of basketball lifer I genuinely respect: the man who played and then coached, spending decades shaping teams rather than chasing personal highlight reels. Born in East Orange, New Jersey in 1947, he came up through an era when American basketball was exploding into a global spectacle, and he chose the unglamorous side of it. Coaching is thankless work; you organize, you discipline, you win quietly from the bench. I'll always tip my cap to the craftsman who builds the spine of a team over the player who simply dunks. Longevity in that role is its own trophy.
