My Take
Weathers will always be Apollo Creed to me, and that's no small thing. A former gridiron player from New Orleans, he carried an athlete's authority onto the screen that few actors could fake. What I treasure is his range within that imposing 188 cm frame: dazzling swagger in Rocky, hard-edged menace in Predator, and pure comic warmth as the one-handed coach in Happy Gilmore. His later turn as Combat Carl only deepened the affection. When he passed in 2024 he left behind a body of work that's genuinely beloved. He's an actor I want to thank more than mourn.
