My Take

Constance Zimmer is, to me, one of television's great specialists in playing whip-smart, terrifyingly competent women. Whether it was Dana Gordon in Entourage or her cutthroat turn in House of Cards, she could seize a scene's temperature in a single line. I find that kind of authority rarer than leading-lady glamour and far more interesting. Add her voice work on Transformers and you see a craftsperson with genuine range rather than a single register. What I appreciate most is the steel underneath her performances, the sense that there is a real spine to the woman behind the roles. Performers who last this long usually have exactly that.
