Courtney Thorne-Smith

To me, Courtney Thorne-Smith is one of the defining faces of 1990s American television. From Melrose Place to Georgia on Ally McBeal to According to Jim, she strung together starring roles in beloved shows with remarkable consistency. She may not be an award-circuit fixture, but the ability to be reliably likable across decades is wildly underrated and far harder than it looks. Her later turn on Two and a Half Men kept her in front of new generations. What I appreciate most is her balance of approachability and poise, a combination that explains exactly why she has stayed in the spotlight for so long.
