My Take
Damian Lillard, Dame Time, is my kind of competitor. Out of Oakland and a small program at Weber State, he climbed all the way to Rookie of the Year in 2013, and what thrills me is his nerve in the final seconds, casually burying logo threes when the game is on the line. That nickname is no marketing gimmick; he has earned it. Off the court he raps and even appeared in Space Jam, a genuinely multi-talented figure. There is a steel in his game that only players who clawed their way up from below tend to carry, and I am a sucker for that hard-earned heart.
