My Take

Danger Mouse is, to me, one of the most quietly influential producers of his generation. Six Grammys from twenty-two nominations and a 2011 Producer of the Year win speak for themselves, but what I admire is his range, from Gnarls Barkley to Gorillaz to The Black Keys. The fact that Esquire called him one of the most influential people of the 21st century back in 2008 feels, if anything, like an understatement now. I find producers like him fascinating because they shape the sound of records most listeners credit entirely to the artist out front. A genuine architect of modern pop.
