My Take
What draws me to Daniel Barnz is that he chose the harder, quieter seat: behind the page and the camera rather than in front of it. A USC film education paired with a craftsman's path through both writing and directing suggests someone who thinks in structure, not just mood. Born in 1970 in suburban Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, he reads to me as a builder of stories rather than a chaser of headlines. Born Daniel Bernstein, he works as Barnz, and I respect storytellers who let the work speak. He is the sort of writer-director whose name you trust before you check the credits.
