My Take
What strikes me about David Mayer de Rothschild is the choice itself. Born into a dynasty synonymous with finance, he could have coasted on the name; instead he built a boat from plastic bottles and sailed it across an ocean to talk about waste. I read that as a deliberate rejection of inherited expectation. Whether or not every expedition lands, the instinct to turn privilege toward planetary stewardship rather than profit is rare and, I think, genuinely admirable. He is also a storyteller, which matters more than people credit in environmentalism.
