My Take

Denis Kudla's story appeals to the grinder in me. Born in Kyiv, raised in the United States, he climbed to world No. 53 in singles, won nine Challenger singles and nine doubles titles, and spent years scrapping on the unglamorous lower tour. Reaching the top 60 and holding ground against the relentless No. 50 ceiling is no small feat. What I admire most is the pivot to coaching Reilly Opelka afterward, turning his own struggle into authority. A Leo built for the spotlight who chose the wisdom of the background. I find that quietly satisfying and very human.
