My Take
Dervla Kirwan is the sort of actor I instinctively trust. She built her foundation in British television with Goodnight Sweetheart and Ballykissangel, then quietly accumulated serious credibility, winning two IFTA Awards for Ondine and the thriller series Smother. She does not chase spectacle; she disappears into roles. There is an Irish melancholy and a low, persuasive presence to her work that I find deeply compelling.
