I'll be honest — I don't think we'll ever fully agree on who the greatest footballer of all time was, but every time that debate comes up, Maradona's 1986 World Cup run shuts a lot of arguments down real fast. He carried Napoli to back-to-back Serie A titles, two of the least expected championship runs in Italian football history. His life off the pitch was messy and complicated and he made no apologies for it. FIFA named him co-Player of the Century alongside Pelé, and that feels about right. Gone in 2020, but genuinely irreplaceable.
