My Take

Germán Cano is a late bloomer after my own heart. Rather than chasing an early move to Europe, this Argentine striker grafted his way through South American football and only fully bloomed in his thirties at Fluminense, where he became a relentless scorer. At 176 cm he isn't built to overpower defenders, so he wins with sheer instinct in the box, that hunter's nose for goal that Argentine forwards seem born with. There's a certain melancholy and obsession to his game that I find magnetic. I respect a man who kept believing in himself long enough for the goals to finally pour in.
