My Take
DJ Quik is, for my money, one of the most underrated architects of West Coast hip-hop. Coming straight out of Compton, he mastered the G-funk sound not just as a rapper but as a producer with an unmistakable touch. What I admire most is that his real genius lives in the groove of his tracks, that warm, rolling funk that you feel in your chest.
