My Take
"Fast" Eddie Clarke earns my lasting respect as the guitarist who shaped Motörhead's golden era alongside Lemmy and Phil Taylor. There is something poignant in his being the last survivor of that classic lineup. What I love is his tone: gritty, muscular, more about building a wall of sound than showing off technique, and you can hear his fingerprints on the thrash metal that followed. His Twickenham, no-nonsense rock-and-roll sensibility carried through to Fastway too. He passed in 2018, but that roar keeps playing. In my book, Eddie never really stopped being current.
