Eddie Jobson

Eddie Jobson is one of those rare musicians whose resume reads like a map of progressive rock itself. Curved Air, Roxy Music, U.K., Jethro Tull, even a stint with Frank Zappa. What fascinates me is his dual mastery of keyboards and violin, a combination few players carry at that level. Many session virtuosos become anonymous; Jobson always left a distinct fingerprint on whatever band he joined. His 2017 Progressive Music Awards Lifetime Achievement honor feels entirely earned. I admire craftsmen who stay restless and versatile without losing their own voice, and he is exactly that kind of artist.
