My Take
Eddie Jones is one of those rare coaches who makes you realize the job is basically a full-time mind game — and he loves every second of it. Born in Burnie, Tasmania, of all places, he carved out a playing career before finding his true calling on the sideline, and what a calling it turned out to be. He took Australia to the 2003 Rugby World Cup final, then rebuilt Japan into genuine World Cup contenders, then went to England and had them knocking on the door of global dominance — the man has coached more top-tier national teams than most people have watched matches. He's blunt, demanding, sometimes controversial, and apparently incapable of staying retired, having returned to Japan again in 2024. I find that obsessive restlessness kind of admirable, honestly.
