Elbridge Colby

Elbridge Colby occupies a different kind of fame, the sort that shapes the world quietly from inside policy rooms. A Harvard man serving as under secretary of defense for policy, credited with helping frame the 2018 National Defense Strategy, he is essentially a strategist deciding where a nation focuses its attention. I find this kind of influence fascinating precisely because it lacks spectacle. As both bureaucrat and historian, he thinks in decades and consequences rather than headlines. That he engages publicly on X suggests a willingness to argue his ideas openly, which I respect. His reach far exceeds his name recognition.
